Was Alabama Governor wrong to say only Christians are his Brothers?

In a speech yesterday the newly elected governor of Alabama said to a group of people meeting in a church, If you do not believe in Jesus you are not my brothers or sisters. Their has been a storm of criticism of him because of this remark.

Double Standard on Gay Marriage and Health Care??

Recently judges have ruled that banning gay marriage and banning openly gay people from serving in the military is unconstitutional. Many on Newsvine and in other media praised these judicial orders and have said the government should immediately comply and not appeal.

Obama visited Afghanistan today. Now on his way home.

This visit comes between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Obama is likely to talk to some soldiers, meet with the top generals, maybe talk to the Afghan president. He may visit a hospital but he is unlikely to go outside a secure US military base.

1 Year Anniversary of Fort Hood Shooting

One year ago today army Major Nidal Hasan murdered twelve soldiers and one civilian. One of the women soldiers was pregnant. Hasan was shot by two security police and captured. He is awaiting trial and is paralyzed from the waist down, a deserved fate.
