Authorities say the suspect, Jerry Bible, 62, was hit in the upper torso. As he fell, Kiser told officers he threw a knife, which was recovered by officers.
Bible, who lives near Kiser, was taken to UT Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. There's no word on his condition, but when he's released from the hospital, he will be charged
He also hopes Wednesday night's shooting will send a message to Bible.
"He's learned his lesson if he makes it through, and a lot of other people that's been involved in it, maybe they'll learn from that, and that might help a whole lot," he said.
Bible has a criminal history in Knox County which includes DUI, driving while privilege suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
